Abstract:
Various new techniques have recently been developed that
are capable of measuring the low velocity of
buoyancy-driven flows associated with small to medium
size fires. Ion deflection and fluidie devices, the
laser Doppler anemometer and instruments utilizing
auto-correlation techniques, are all commercially
available and are excellent "bench top" research tools.
