Abstract:
This report presents new information on thermal loads,
daylighting, management, and life-cycle costs which
indicates that such recommendations may neglect
important design and operational aspects of windows
which can conserve energy resources and reduce
life-cycle building costs. A case example is described
in which energy consumption and life-cycle costs are
given for windows in a typical house in the Washington,
D.C. area.
